What We Believe

What is a Lutheran?

LCMS Lutherans are Christian believers who worship the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, & Holy Spirit, 3 persons yet one God, as revealed to us in the Holy Bible. Everything we say and do centers around Jesus Christ and the Gospel message that we are saved by grace through faith alone.

We believe that Jesus still comes among us today through the means of His Word and the sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We seek to share the love of Christ with all whose lives we touch. We joyfully await the day when Christ returns to raise all the dead, restore His creation, and bring all believers in Him into everlasting life in paradise.

We believe that these truths and more are revealed to us in the Bible, which is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. We confess these truths as expressed in the Ecumenical Creeds (Athanasian, Apostles', Nicene) as well as Martin Luther's Small Catechism and other documents included in the Book of Concord (The Lutheran Confessions).
